Calgary is currently much like Edmonton was a few years ago IMO, and probably currently, no one of significance wants to play there when they're in a rebuilding phase. Your chances of signing either of Horton or Filppula are slim and none, gotta stick with the kids.

Don't get me wrong McGratton is one of my favourite fighters in the past 15 years, but who the (frank) gives him 2 years?

Didn't the guy clear waivers last year and have a hard time finding work? There is no doubt in my mind that he's a top 3 scrapper in the league, but lets not get back to giving scrappers multi-year deals.

Gotta protect the kids if the team isnt going to be bringing in any seasoned players...

And when you find out that the guy is done this year?

I'm pretty sure you could've re-signed him late in the year.

Seems like a waste

Meh - gives us something to talk about in the mean time before Feaster signs Weiss Horton and Clarkson.

Who cares. I'm not sure what the deal was but it won't be much. CGY has a ton of cap space and will for a while. At less than a mil per, it really doesn't matter.

Seriously, I really hope that CGY claims Grabo and then tries to sign Gilbert and Blum thus allowing us to either trade Wideman or Gio for a good return. This would give us a decent top 4 D in Gilbert and another promising young puck mover in Blum. Grabo covers the C position for a couple of years until Monahan is ready to take the 1st line in 3 or 4 years.

Interesting fact, Monahan is just 1 month young than Jankowski. Maybe they are ready at the same time for 1st and 2nd line.

It was all a clever plan! Muahaha

Gilbert could be a good option...dont see them too interesting in Blum, not sure if they want more projects or not(rebuild or not).

Very poor mentality though.

I use to work for a company that allowed small poop to go for years and years, eventually it got to the point where the limits kept gettting worse and worse and more and more people either getting hurt or became completely unproductive workers.

Should always be trying your best.

It would be one the best things for your team to dump him. Wideman...

I saw a decent source yesterday on it. Not like Ference to EDM done, but Ference to EDM a possibility.

I'd take him.
